Adventureland ~ Dole Whip & Tiki Room

I discovered Dole Whip was quite the must have item while in Disneyland from many posters over at MiceChat.com. Then on the 3rd day of my four day vacation I remembered that many were telling me to sample the Dole Whip items located in front The Enchanted Tiki Room. I purchased a Dole Whip at the price of $2.75 and discovered it looked like soft serve ice cream but with a yellowish tone. I could also see bits of pineapple in the whip and started to poke at it with my spoon.

And then to my discovery the Dole Whip collapsed into itself! I thought what a shame! It's hollow inside, not full and plentiful like soft serve ice cream found elsewhere in the park. But then I thought maybe that's what "whip" is. I figured since I was going to enjoy Dole Whip I might as well see Disneyland's Enchanted Tiki Room.

Over at Walt Disney World they have the Tiki Room but the one that's "Under New Management" featuring Iago from Aladdin and Zazu from The Lion King. The Tiki Room attraction in Disneyland, California remains to be the true original. I figured I'd give the attraction a shot since everything else in the park took visitors elsewhere based on their size and themes.

I asked if I could take my Dole Whip into the attraction and the Cast Member said yes. So in I went. The waiting area was outside and featuring talking tiki heads that were placed in all corners. Sort of a preview of what's to come. Finally the doors opened and in everyone went.

I stood outside of the attraction taking in the visuals of the fire and lighting that can best be appreciated when you view the show in the evening. Finally I walked in and took a front row seat. Some "experts" were taking their families to sit in the back corners of each side so that could see everything. I wanted the front row because who doesn't want the front row.

Once the show began I understood why the front row wasn't the best. You hurt your neck looking since most of the show is happening from above. But the way the attraction was designed it gives everyone the best seat. During the air conditioned show I quickly devoured the Dole Whip and found that near the end of it I found there to be too much citric acid for my taste. I could barely finish the last few bits.

The show lasted a good while and is a great spot for those seeking to get out of the heat. I even caught a few sleeping the night away. Finally the exit doors opened and out I went. A great memory and nothing Walt Disney World does can top the magic that is The Enchanted Tiki Room.

The next day I went back to Adventureland and bought the Dole Whip Float. I figured this would taste just as good or maybe even better than the regular ol' Dole Whip. To my surprise... the citric acid levels were so high that after 10 sips I threw the entire thing away.

Basically if you have a high tolerance for citric acid then you can enjoy the Dole Whip treats. If you can't stand citric acid and have problems with the burning sensation, stay away from Dole Whip or better yet, share it with someone who can finish it.
